A 17-year-old boy was murdered by a group of around 15 persons including juveniles and a local criminal in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area on Sunday. Three juveniles have been arrested and attempts are underway to nab others.
The victim identified as Mohammad Shaukat had shared a reel on Instagram, in which a local criminal named Sohan Lal Kashyap was abused. According to his family members, the criminal was outraged over the same and killed him.
Additional DCP (Dwarka district) Vikram Singh said, “We lodged an FIR, and conducted the victim’s post-mortem examination on Monday. Initial investigation has revealed that he had posted a video on social media and had some heated arguments with the locals. On Sunday, he was picked up by them and they killed him. One of the accused is a local criminal of the area and a proposal for his externment is pending. We are looking for him.” Singh was quoted by The Indian Express as saying.
Shaukat’s sister, Nargis said her brother was found in an unconscious condition near a school in the Uttam Nagar area. She further alleged negligence by the police.
“My brother worked at a factory and was on leave on Sunday. He went out of the house Sunday evening and did not return. Late in the night, we received a call that Shoukat had been found in an unconscious condition near a school in the Uttam Nagar area. When we reached the spot, Shaukat was alive. He was breathing. Policemen who were at the spot scolded us when we requested them to take my brother to the hospital. It was only after pleading several times, police officers took him to the hospital. He was taken to Mahendru Hospital and then was shifted to DDU hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,” she was quoted by Maktoob Media as saying.
She added that Showkat was critical of Sohan Lal Kashyap.
