New Delhi, 23 Dec 2014: Muslim voters of J& K have rejected Muslim candidates of BJP outrightly and only one Muslim candidate out of 34 could win the assembly polls.
BJP had fielded 34 Muslim candidates in the state where it fought on 74 of total 87 assembly seats. But only one of 34 Muslim candidates of the party was able to win.
Abdul Ghani Kohli of BJP has been declared winner in Kala Kote seat as he defeated Rachhpal Singh of National Conference with over six thousand votes.
BJP’s Heena Bhat, who had become TV face of the party in the state, could get a little over 500 votes in the Amira Kadal seat which was won by Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari of Peoples Democratic Party.
Surprisingly even the star campaigner of BJP in valley Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi lost the election.
Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, an erstwhile president of the Socialist Democratic Party, who contested the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir elections as the BJP candidate from the Sonawar assembly seat against chief minister Omar Abdullah miserably failed in impressing the voters and lost the election to the PDP candidate.
