Jeddah : The emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held here on Sunday at the level of permanent representatives, called on OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani to convene an emergency Executive Committee meeting at the Islamic Summit level, in order to discuss the deteriorating situation in Syria, especially in Aleppo.
The meeting is to be held within the framework of implementing the decision of the 13th Islamic Summit Conference held in Istanbul on April 14-15, on the rapprochement of OIC member states’ positions, to end the war in Syria and other conflicts in the Islamic world.
It is noteworthy that the current OIC Executive Committee is made up of the Islamic Summit Troika, namely Egypt, Turkey and the Gambia, as well as the Troika of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), comprising Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Uzbekistan, in addition to the Secretary General of the Organization.—IINA
