At least 250 persons associated to Popular Front of India (PFI) have been arrested by security forces in numerous states.
The investigation agencies are carrying out raids in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Delhi, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
So far, at least 31 people have been held in the national capital.
The Delhi Police Special Cell is conducting searches in numerous locations, including Rohini, Nizamuddin, Jamia, Shaheen Bagh, and central Delhi.
Meanwhile, Jamia Millia Islamia has asked its students and teachers not to assemble in and around the campus as police have imposed restrictions under section 144 of the CrPC in the entire Okhla area.ee
The chief proctor of the university said the SHO of the Jamia Nagar police station has informed that “the restrictions have been imposed since September 19 as information was received that some people or groups may indulge in activities prejudicial to the maintenance of peace.”
According to the notice, the restrictions would be in effect throughout the entire Okhla (Jamia Nagar) area till November 17.
Another order issued by the assistant commissioner of police of New Friends Colony stated that on September 19, section 144 of the CrPC was imposed in the Jamia Nagar area.
According to media reports, the 144 order is related to the crackdown on the Popular Front of India, which Delhi police rejected.
“It is not related to the action against PFI. The order is 10 days old,” Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa told IANS.
Adv Sharfuddin Ahmed SDPI vice president was picked up from train at Tundla junction at late night while he was going to Delhi , was released on Tuesday evening from Agra.
Shaheen Kausar, CAA activist and SDPI vice president of Delhi who was arrested at midnight crackdown from her resident at Jamia Nagar was also released by Special Cell of Delhi Police on Tuesday 2 pm.
