Deoband: The provoking posters spotted in Deoband, a town of Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The posters contain the threatening message for the students of Bangladesh in Islamic Seminaries and asking them to quit India.
However, after the incident, Saharanpur Superintendent of Police (SSP) Babloo Kumar spoke to media and said that an investigation has been initiated in the matter to nab the perpetrators.
The posters were anonymously pasted on the walls and mosques with a message threatening Bangladeshi students with dire consequences if they did not leave the country within a month. They had also mentioned names and numbers of Bangladeshi students studying in Darul Uloom Deoband. The message on the poster was written in poor quality of the Urdu script.
Deoband is home to world-renowned Islamic Institution Darul Uloom and the incident comes at a time when seminary’s vice-chancellor Abul Qasim Nomani is on a 10-day visit to Bangladesh.
Later, the posters were removed and burnt by angry local residents.
