New Delhi, 30 March : In a joint letter sent to Jathedar of the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikh religion, a group of prominent Muslims of India on Monday strongly condemned the killing of twenty-five Sikhs in the capital city of Afghanistan on 25 March. They offered sincere condolence on behalf of the Muslims of India and described the assailants as “hard-core criminals” for whom there is no space in Islam.
In a long statement released to the media by well-Known Islamic scholar and chairman Delhi State Minorities Commission, Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan, the group said that they see it as “merciless killing of our own innocent brothers” and denounced it as a “heinous crime deserving severest punishment.”
The statement offered “sincere condolence on behalf of the Muslims of India to our Sikh brothers and sisters and their religious leaders” and added that the killers may call themselves “Muslims” but are in fact hard-core criminals for whom there is no space in Islam.
The signatories to the statement include Jamat-e-Islami chief Saadaullah Husaini, head of Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees Asghar Imam Mehdi Salafi, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Mahmood Madani, Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid Syed Ahmad Bukhari, Islamic scholar & President of Maulana Azad University Akhtarul Wasey, All India Milli Council General Secretary Dr Manzoor Alam, former NCM chairman Prof. Tahir Mahmood, head of Ittehad-e Millat Council Maulana Tauqeer Raza, Raza Academy Mumbai Chairman Muhammad Saeed Noori, Sajjada Nasheen Dargah hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Khwaja Syed Muhammad Nizami, Sajjada Nasheen Dargah Hazrat Khwaja Bandanawaz Gulbarga Syed Shah Khusro Pasha Husaini, AMU Professor Abdrur Raheem Kidwai, Shia scholar Maulana Syed Muhammad Askari, AMU Professor Syed Ali Muhammad Naqvi, Imam Shia Jama Masjid Delhi Maulana Muhammad Muhsin Taqawi, AIMPLB member Kamal Faruqui and All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat General Secretary Mujtaba Farooq and Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan.
