Pune (Maharastra) : The leader of the Republican Youth Morcha, Rahul Dambale and other progressive activists stage protest demanding action against the murder of student Indra Meghwal and Bilkis Banu’s rapists.
The protest was organized by various progressive organization in Pune on Monday.
The activists asked the central government to measures to prevent such incidents, they also demanded the initiatition of strict action against those inciting communal and religious harmony.
Speaking at the protest, Republican Yuva Morcha leader, Rahul Dambale criticized the central government as well as the government of Rajasthan and Gujarat and said, “Dalits and Muslims are constantly facing oppression and denial of justice to them is very dangerous for Indian democracy and a comprehensive protest against such incidents is necessary.”
“Narendra Modi and the BJP have played a role in denying justice in the Bilkis Bano case since the beginning, and they have tried to shake the faith of the minority community in this country by conspiring to directly help the accused of Bilkis Bano, when they got the opportunity,” said Anjum Inamdar the President of Mul Niwasi Muslim Manch.
He also said that he would soon launch a movement against the oppression of Dalit and Muslims.
During this protest, activists from Republican Yuva morcha, Bheem Army including Suvarnatai Dambale, Dattabhau Pol, Nita Tai Adsul, Santosh Shinde (Sambhaji Brigade) Shiv Sena’s Dr. Amol Devlekar, Sameer Sheikh of Nationalist Congress Party, Anil Hatagele of Lahuji Parishad, Umesh Chavan of Patient Rights Council, Prachi Dudhane of Jijau Brigade, Sapna Mali of Samata Parishad, Gauri Pingle, Snehal Kamble, Kiran Rashid, Ibrahim Khan, Sagai Nair, Amjad Bhai, Christian Regional Society Mr. Bansode, labor leaders Arun Kamble etc were present.
The activists protested both the incidents by raising slogans in front of the Pune District Collector’s Office.
