New Delhi, Dec 20 : “Each of us will go door-to-door and explain CAA to at least 10 people and debunk the myths about this act. A campaign to reach the youth will also be initiated.”said Bharat Sharma, the head of the Delhi chapter of RSS on Friday.
In a bid to clarify ‘misunderstanding’ among people specially Muslims the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) came forward to spread awareness about the new citizenship law among the people on Friday during a pro CAA march in the inner circle of Connaught Place here.
Interestingly the RSS leader has said exactly the same thing what Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Ahmed Bukhari told the media on Wednesday.
Assuring the Muslims of India not to worry about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) Shahi Imam said that CAA-NRC is not against the Muslim community.
He said that there is a great difference between the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens (NRC). While the CAA has become an act the NRC is yet in the most primary stage and only announcement is made.
Bukhari further said that the CAA proposes to provide citizenship to minority refugees coming from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to India and has nothing to do with Indian Muslims so, Muslims should not worry and live in fear, he assured.
The Shahi Imam’s statement came at an opportune time and will help in containing the violent protests mostly confined to the Muslim dominated areas in the country.
After many years Urdu newspapers were given government sponsored advertisement which ‘explained’ that Muslim community should not worry about CAA-NRC.
On the other side several influential community leaders were contacted by RSS functionaries across the country and invited to speak on TV channels and clarify that ‘CAA-NRC’ is not against Muslims.
