New Delhi, 31 July: The All India Congress Committee’s National general secratary and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi wrote a letter to the Uttar Pradesh CM, Yogi Adityanath asking him to ensure justice to Dr. Kafeel Khan, who has been incarcerated for 450 days now. Gandhi asked Yogi to show some sensitivity and look into the matter and help in getting justice. Khan was detained at the Mumbai airport for allegedly delivering provocative and inflammatory speech in Aligarh during the Anti-CAA protests.
Gandhi in her letter stated- “ I expect that while showing your sensitivity, you will try your best to secure justice for Dr. Kafeel.” Gandhi also wrote a poem by Guru Gorakhnath in the letter saying that the poem should inspire him.
Khan was arrested at Mumbai airport terminal on January 29 regarding the case enlisted at Aligarh’s Civil Lines police headquarters under area 153-A of the Indian Penal Code.
The section identifies with promoting hatred amongst people over religion and different contrasts. On February 10, Khan was allowed bail by the Allahabad High Court yet not promptly discharged by Mathura Jail specialists. His family at that point moved court in Aligarh, guaranteeing contempt of the High Court order. The court gave a new discharge request on February 13. Be that as it may, before it could be executed, the specialists conjured the NSA against him. The paediatrician had before detained following the death of more than 60 infants in seven days at an administration emergency clinic in UP’s Gorakhpur in 2017. But two years after this incident, Khan was cleared off of all the charges by the State government probe.
