Shafique ul Hasan, who has been sharing news clippings from daily newspapers for more than 5 years, was recently felicitated by BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali, at his Pandara Road official residence, and honored with the title of ‘Newsman of India’.
On this occasion, Member of Parliament Kunwar Danish Ali acknowledged the innovative and selfless service of Shafiqe ul Hasan, saying that he is so passionate about his work that he did not stop it even during the Covid lockdown.
“I had planned to organize a felicitation ceremony when he was going to complete 1000 days of his service, in 2020, but postponed it due to Covid19 and recently, when he completed 5 years of his news clippings service to the society, I thought this is the best time to celebrate his work and felicitate him in a big way.
Talking about his news journey, Shafique said that he started it way back in 2017 and after 1 year, people started noticing my work and after completing 2 years in 2019, they started appreciating me and celebrating work.
Shafique ul Hasan’s journey as the ‘Newsman of India’ started with the Indian Express story on 24th June, 2017, on the painful lynching of Hafiz Junaid in a Haryana train when he was returning from Delhi after Eid shopping. The lynching affected Hasan and he started collecting newspaper clippings of such events from reliable sources and started to share them on social media to raise awareness and fight with fake news.
Hasan’s day begins at 5:00am. He starts by reading e-newspapers including The Telegraph, Indian Express, The Hindu, Times of India, Hindustan Times, The Tribune, The Statesman, Deccan Chronicle, Deccan Herald, Inquilab, Sahara etc. He diligently compiles important and relevant news stories after scanning around 20–25 newspapers in English, Urdu, and Hindi.
Shafique ul Hasan has been broadcasting 30-40 stories every every day. The beneficiaries to his broadcast lists include editors, journalists, academics, filmmakers, intellectuals, celebrities, analysts, activists, and politicians.
People from several cities and countries, appreciate Hasan for his selfless service, amazing consistency and unmatched dedication. He has received several awards for his efforts, and has been felicitated by India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC), several organisations and individuals in Delhi, Dubai and Sharjah.
Shafique, an alumni of the Jamia Millia Islamia, started his career as a journalist at the age of 16, and later went on to start an advertising agency namely Sky Advertising in 1987.
On this occasion, former Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi, former Member of Parliament Meem Afzal, Former MP, Mohammad Adeeb, former MP Santosh Bhartiya former Chairman of Delhi Minority Commission Qamar Ahmed, Dr. Mohsin Wali, SM Khan, Vice President, IICC, President of Muslim Majlis Mashawrat Naved Hamid, Dr. S.
