Bhopal/Singapore : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Singapore Prime Minister Lee Husien Loong today. The Chief Minister discussed investment potential in major sectors like renewable energy and urban planning in the state. The Singapore PM evinced interest in collaborating with Madhya Pradesh in 5 sectors.
According to an official spokesman here Prime Minister Loong assured the Chief Minister that a business delegation of Singapore will attend Global Investors Summit to be held at Indore onOctober 19-21. The Chief Minister invited Loong and Iswaran to the summit.
The Chief Minister also met Singapore’s Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Trade and Industries Minister S. Iswaran. The Chief Minister informed about investment potential in Madhya Pradesh in solar, wind and biomass energies, urban planning, capacity building, food processing and information technology sectors.
Chouhan said that MoUs with various Singapore entities will be signed tomorrow. One of these will be for 1000 MW wind farm in Western Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister was also conferred Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Fellowship. On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the school has emerged as pioneer in education and research fields. He urged the school for academic and ideological exchange with Madhya Pradesh’s educational institutions.
Tomorrow, the Chief Minister will address a business seminar and throw light on investment potential in Madhya Pradesh. Besides, he will hold discussions with a delegation of International Enterprises (I.E.) and delegates of Singapore Business Federation. Business delegation and officers will also be present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister will also visit Sentosa island. The Chief Minister will attend a dinner to be hosted by Indian High Commissioner in his honour. On January 15, Chouhan will meet Singapore’s Senior National Development Minister Lawrence Waugh and return to the country. (pervezbari@yahoo.co.in)
