New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a PIL alleging forceful conversion of Hindus by Muslims in Haryana’s Nuh district (Mewat).
A three-Judge bench of CJI Ramana, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice Hrishikesh Roy dismissed the petition observing that the Court cannot entertain a matter merely on the basis of newspaper reports(Ranjana Agnihtori and others v Union of India).
“Sorry, we don’t think we can entertain this on the basis of news paper reports”, CJI Ramana told Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, who was appearing for the petitioners.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain has filed the petition stating that local police has failed to exercise powers as a result of which the life and liberty of Hindus is in peril.
The plea has sought a probe into the alleged conversion of Hindus.
Thank God. justice is done.
