Three of the Delhi Metro’s stations have been shut down on Tuesday. The reason for the closing is due to a religious gathering that has been expected. The gathering will be taking place regarding a piece of land that is under dispute.
The Race Course Metro Station was closed by the Delhi Metro after 1.35 PM, based on the advise of the Delhi police. The INA and Jor Bagh Metro stations, which are also on the Yellow Line that connects Huda City to Jahangirpuri, which had been closed at 10.17 AM, will continue to remain shut.
On March 31 too, the Metro stations had been shut down following fear of vandalism after a crowd had gathered at the disputed site in the vicity of two historic monuments of Delhi – The Safdarjang Tomb and the Lodhi Garden.
The Delhi Police had issues an advisory on Monday on the possibility of some Muslim protesters holding demonstrations at a lot of places, protesting the acquisition of land in Karbala in the area of Jor Bagh.——–IANS
