Two arrested for beef trade in Gurgaon

cow1-620x330Gurgaon, Jan 31 : Police on Sunday arrested two people for transporting beef for sale at a market here, an official said.

Members of the Gau Raksha Dal on Sunday spotted three people carrying beef in an auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw was later found parked near a slum near R.D. City area in New Gurgaon.

Police at Sushant Lok police station, on being informed about the incident, reached the spot and nabbed two people — Shabibur Rehman and Mushabbar Rehman, both hailing from West Bengal — with nearly 30 kg beef. Another man managed to flee.

After examining the meat, veterinarian doctor Rampal confirmed that it was beef.

The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, a police officer told IANS.—IANS
