New Delhi: Rights groups and activists on Monday condemned the UP police for subjecting Shahid Hussain, a journalist with a news channel, to physical torture and foisting false cases on him and his family. They demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting Judge into the incident.

Addressing a press conference here to highlight the physical torture and false cases launched against Shahid Hussain by the policemen of Police Chowki of Sector 39, NOIDA, UP, they said it is yet another instance of UP police’s ‘‘communal and partisan” mindset and behavior.

“The attitude of UP police under YOGI Government in general and NOIDA Police in specific are communal and partisan. They not only beat Mr. Shahid Hussain, a reporter but also abused and threatened his can’t members.”

They said the incident happened with a journalist that speaks itself what would have be happening with common man under the UP police.

On this occasion, they demanded that the guilty police personnel should suspended for beating and misbehaving with Shahid Hussain and his wife. They identified the police personnel involved in the incident Viz. Chowki In charge Vineet Kumar, Sub-Inspector Rajpal Rana and others.

Demanding a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge into the incident, they expressed grave concern over the deep communalization of police and state machinery in the state. They also urged the authorities to stop this trend.

The press conference was organized by the Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU Delhi Committee) and Pragatesheel Mahila Sanghatan (PMS Delhi committee). It was addressed by Dr. Animesh Das (President, Delhi IFTU), Advo. Poonam (General Secretary, PMS) N D Pancholi (PUCL) and Dr Vikas Bajpayee ( JNU).
