We need a leader who can build a movement against majoritarianism, who can stand up and say the right thing without fear or favour , this is the only way the county will survive , said veteran lawyer and ex cabinet minister Kapil Sibal while addressing a select gathering to felicitate him on completion of his fifty years at the Bar of the Supreme Court at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
I want to tell the lawyers of the country that they should come up and realise their responsibility otherwise history will not forget them, he added.
Commenting on the current judiciary system he said when I go to the court I know the result because I know the judge.
Calibre of a judge is not judged on cases which are taken up on a daily basis, but when the stakes are very high, sometimes the silence of the judge is most vocal, he added.
Addressing on occasion the renowned educationist PA Inamdar said that I came to Delhi from Pune just to appreciate Mr Sibal because he not only fights cases from heart but he is a nice human being as well.
P A Inamdar, Kamal Farooqui and advocate M R Shamshad were the hosts of the event.
