Kolkata: In a bid to support small entrepreneurs and businessmen, the West Bengal Minorities Development and Financial Corporation (WBMDFC) will organize a business fair billed as Milan Ustav 2015-16 which will be held at Park Circus Maidan from January 12 to 17. This is not for the first time that State Minorities Corporation is holding such fair as it was also held earlier.
Briefing about the details of Milan Ustav, Minorities Corporation member and MP Ahmed Hasan Imran told the Muslim Mirror that the Milan Ustav will provide marketing support to small entrepreneurs and businessmen and Corporation’s various self-employment small schemes’ beneficiaries.
The main purpose of the fair is to provide them access to outside market, so they can promote their product and business. The fair will also provide them opportunity of meeting with entrepreneurs from different of parts of the state and to cooperate with each other in future venture.
Under the Trinamool Congress Government, the budget of the Minorities Corporation has been enhanced and a host of new-self employment schemes for minorities were launched. Ahmed Hasan said TMC chief and State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken several initiatives for improving the condition of minorities especially Muslim minority in the state since she took over the reins of power in 2011. The fair is also one such step meant to improve economic condition of members of the minority as they lag in every socio-economic indicator, he added.
For the inaugural session, world-famed gazal maestro Ghulam Ali and his son Amir Ali were invited who will perform at the inaugural programme scheduled on January 12 here. Besides this, the stage for Milan Utsav will be used for promoting communal harmony and highlighting other social issues by organizing seminars on various important topics, cultural programmes and free health camps. On the occasion, career counseling programme and inter-college/ school programmes, sit and draw as well as sport competitions will also be organized for inculcating competitive spirit among the students.
Ahmed Hasan, who also edits a popular Bengali daily Qalam, also informed that on the inaugural day of the Milan Ustav, the West Bengal Minorities Corporation will also distribute loans to its beneficiaries including self-help groups and individuals. It will also distribute educational loans and scholarships. In the fair, beneficiaries’ will display their products for getting marketing support. He said past year’s success gave us lot of courage to organize this year’s mela on large scale.
