When Covid-19 pandemic broke out and many of us were in comfort zones to protect ourselves from deadly virus, there were some brave men and women who risked their lives to serve humanity. Here is a story of three female medicos from Goa who set an example for others to follow.
In the early months of the pandemic, India’s tiny state Goa was in the green zone but unfortunately from July it started reporting Covid-19 positive cases in a large number. Goa has recorded 42968 Cases till date with 2402 active cases.596 Patients lost their life while fighting with this deadly virus.
According to a newspaper, till September 17, India lost 382 doctors due to Covid-19.
Here is the story of three brave Goa based female health warriors who are discharging Covid duty since last seven month, tirelessly.
Meet Dr. Zenin Khan, a BHMS graduate from Margao town, working with a Panjim city based Private Hospital, is serving corona patients since May. She tested positive two months back but amazingly soon after recovery she joined the duty again.
Speaking with Muslim Mirror, 27 year old Dr, and Zenin said that it is our duty to serve the humanity in such dire situation of pandemic.
Sharing her experiences, she says nursing the Covid-19 patients is easy for us but staying away from family for weeks is tough.
Another brave doctor is Dr. Muzna Ismail Baig. The 27 year old junior resident doctor in a government Hospital says, Covid pandemic has meant that all healthcare workers have been summoned to serve the community.
She said that when we talk about experience of Covid duties, the first thing that comes to my mind is the ‘Responsiblity’. “Yes! Because you should be steeled enough to shoulder this responsibility of treating all Covid patients who are battling for their lives. And, you are the thin string between these two”, she added.
Dr. Muzna further opines, it has completely been a roller- coaster ride, terrifying, exhausting, with fears and discomforts, all contributing to learn painful but valuable lessons. While leaving for work, I can see all the ‘worry and stress’ on my mother’s face. But being a parent of a doctor, she understands my commitment to work.
As a doctor, I am proud of myself that I can stand up in service and help my nation during such tough times, she adds further.
Afsina Giddunawar a 22 year old nursing staff from a private hospital narrates that before joining Corona ward I was a bit nervous, discharging eight long hours duty wearing a PPE kit was also difficult because we can’t eat or drink even we can’t go to the washroom. But after two three days I became comfortable and got very good support from my staff members and doctors as well, now I am enjoying my duty and feeling proud, added Afsina.
That’s fine. But i don’t want Muslim women adopting corrosive feminist ideology. That would disastrous FOR THEMSELVES.
There is nothing wrong with feminism. There is nothing corrosive about it.
It’s an unproven and unsubstantiated ideology which is harmful to women’s interest in general and muslim women’s interest in particular. And unfortunately it has led to sky rocketing of misogyny among men
We are proud of you. the living warriors are the lesson for many and its ur courage and confidence and dedication. Ull are always in our prayers. Keep up the good work .God bless ull.
