New Delhi, 27 June, 2013: The All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat today donated a sum of Rs one lakh to the Prime Minister’s relief fund as a token amount towards the relief efforts being undertaken by the central and state governments and many NGOs.
Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan, President of AIMMM, appealed to the Muslim organisations, NGOs and individuals to come forward and offer all possible relief help in this hour of need of our brethren and sisters affected by the natural calamity in Uttarkhand.
Dr Khan expressed satisfaction that a number of Muslim organisations including Jamaat-e Islami Hind and Jamiat Ulama-e Hind (Mahmood Madni group) have already started relief work in Uttarkhand and that Muslims from across the country are sending relief materials and assistance to help the victims. Delhi-based Charity Alliance, headed by Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan, also has sent a cheque of Rs 50,000 today to the Prime Minister’s relief fund for Uttarkhand victims.
In his letter to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Dr. Khan appreciated the great efforts being made by the central and state governments as well as by the gallant air force jawans to rescue and offer all possible help in the affected area.
“We wish and pray for a quick rehabilitation and speedy return to normalcy for the people of the affected area and the affected families all over the country,” he wrote.
