Mumbai, March 31: All police stations in Mumbai have been asked to monitor the activities of Girls Islamic Organization (GIO). The group has been put under scanner because it is “motivating girls towards Islam”.
According to a report in Times of India on Sunday, intelligence agencies in the state have sent letters to all police stations in Mumbai asking them to monitor the activities of the Muslim girls group. The organization is trying to “motivate girls towards Islam”, the daily said the letter warned.
“People are now attracted towards science. These women (GIO) are trying to ask girls to wear a burqa and study Islam. We have asked police stations to monitor their activities,” Sanjay Shintre who heads the special branch’s intelligence wing has been quoted as saying by the English daily.
