New Delhi, May 16: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought report within four weeks from Rajasthan government over regular occurrence of communal incidents in the state. The rights body has sought report on the complaint from Ravi Nitesh of Mission Bhartiyam, a social group based in Delhi.
In last week of April, communal violence happened in Nimaj town of Jaipur and after that curfew was imposed. It was reported that jeeps and bikes were damaged and set afire, several houses and shops also got damaged.
“Though I do not have any doubt over the administration, but I also want to appeal to NHRC to look in the ‘series of communal violence’ taking place in Rajasthan. As per reports, case in Nimaj is the sixth such incident in April alone. Similar cases have been reported over the last three weeks from Sanganer, Makrana, Sarwar, Udaipur and Baran,” said Ravi Nitesh, President, Mission Bhartiyam and demanded a fair investigation into the reasons of series of communal violence. He also demanded adequate compensation to victims.
These incidents on one side are responsible for loss of lives and materials, injuries and deforming social harmony, it automatically becomes the matter of human rights violations as it is the responsibility of state to provide a safe environment for all, to provide justice to victims and to prevent such incidents, he added.
The NHRC has sent copy of the complaint (No. 950/20/14/2013) to concerned authorities in Rajasthan and sought report within four weeks.
