A case has been filed against the district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) minority morcha. He stands accused of the alleged rape of a 17-year-old Dalit girl and the subsequent killing of her father in [Uttar Pradesh district], according to authorities.
The case was officially registered at the Sadar Kotwali police station, and it has sent ripples through the political landscape of the region. The complainant, the teenage girl, has made harrowing allegations against the prominent BJP leader, which have left the community in shock and anger.
The victim, in her statement to the police, recounted the horrifying events that transpired on August 28. She claimed that she was subjected to a brutal rape by Masoom Raza Rahi, who is not only a powerful political figure but also holds a position within the BJP.
Shockingly, when her father, identified as Raju, courageously intervened to protect his daughter, he was allegedly brutally assaulted by the accused, which resulted in grievous injuries. Raju succumbed to his injuries while undergoing medical treatment.
The victim further disclosed that, following her mother’s demise, her family had been residing in Rahi’s house as tenants. This case has raised concerns not only about the heinous nature of the crime but also about the safety and vulnerability of individuals from marginalized communities, particularly Dalits.
Circle Officer (Sadar) Ajay Singh Chauhan confirmed that a case has been registered against Masoom Raza Rahi. The charges against him include those under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, such as rape (Section 376), murder (Section 302), assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty (Section 354), house trespass with intent to cause harm (Section 452), voluntarily causing hurt (Section 323), insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace (Section 504), and criminal intimidation (Section 506). Additionally, Rahi faces charges under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The incident has drawn the attention of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s leadership. District convenor of the BJP, Sanjay Pandey, affirmed that the party’s senior leadership is fully aware of the incident and assured that appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law.
In a statement issued by a senior leader of the BJP’s minority morcha, it was emphasized that the rule of law applies to all, regardless of their political affiliations or positions. The leader reiterated the commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and ensuring that the guilty are held accountable for their actions.
