Moshe Saada, a lawmaker from Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party in Israel, made a controversial statement implying that recent calls to “destroy” Gaza Strip residents support the right-wing’s stance. His comments seem to suggest that there’s widespread support or acknowledgment within certain circles for such extreme actions against Gaza.
Saada mentioned hearing sentiments even among people he knows, including those within the prosecutor’s office, advocating for the destruction of Gaza. He claimed that these statements validate the views of the right-wing in Israel, particularly regarding the Palestinian issue.
This statement arises amidst a backdrop of heightened tensions between Israel and Gaza, with South Africa petitioning the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over Israel’s alleged violations of the Genocide Convention during its conflicts with Hamas in Gaza. The petition includes remarks from various Israeli officials, indicating, according to South Africa, an intent to commit genocide in Gaza.
Among these remarks, there’s mention of a far-right Israeli Minister of Heritage, Amichai Eliyahu, who controversially suggested the use of a nuclear weapon on Gaza as an option. However, another member of the government stated that such statements were metaphorical.
An expert in international law and human rights, Michael Sfard, accused Israeli law enforcement of not acting against extreme statements by senior Israeli politicians, highlighting their failure to address daily incitement for the destruction of Gaza. Sfard argues that this inaction not only violates moral standards but also suggests, in the eyes of many worldwide, that Israel may have intentions of committing genocide.
Overall, Saada’s comments, alongside the broader context, shed light on the intense political tensions, extreme rhetoric, and accusations surrounding the Israel-Gaza conflict, including allegations of intent to commit genocide.
Do such leaders will be the reason for one more holocaust against Jews in future?
