The Haryana Police have registered a case against former MP Mohammad Adeeb and two others on the complaint of a local Hindutva leaders who accused them of trying to grab land for construction of a mosque and incite riots.
This comes days after Adeeb filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding contempt action against Haryana’s Cheif Secretary, Director General of Police and others for inaction against groups involved in creating troubles against offering of namaz on Fridays at certain designated open sites in the state’s Gurugram city.
The FIR has been registered against Mr Adeeb, Abdul Haseeb Kashmi and Mufti Mohammad Salim Kashmi at Sector 40 police station under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The same has been done on the complaint of Dinesh Bharti, founder of an outfit called the founder of Bharat Mata Vahini.
He alleged that there was a piece of land near plot No. 449-450 in Sector 40 where ancestors of Mangtu Manihar were put to rest. The land was being allegedly declared a graveyard and a mosque was being demanded by them.
All the three accused are memebrs of the Gurgaon Muslim Council, which has been negotiating with authorities over ongoing attempts by Hindutva groups to disrupt Firday prayers at open sites in Gurugram.
