Hindu religious leader Yati Narsinghanand was arrested in connection wit the “dharm sansad” event that called for the genocide of Muslims in India. He is the second person after Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi, formerly known as Waseem Rizvi, to be taken into custody after an intervention by the Supreme Court.
Following Narsinghanand’s arrest, his supporters gathered outside the Haridwar Police Station in Uttarakhand on Saturday. They were dispersed by the police later.
A three day event was held between 17 and 19 December 2021 in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district. At the event, several Hindu religious leaders called the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in India and suggested ways to do so. The local police have booked more than 10 persons in connection with the event.
Narsinghanand is known for his anti-Muslim speeches. He has been making insulting remarks against Prophet Muhammad and other personalities associated with Islam.
