ven though the Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan (an alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia’s Mass Communication Research Centre MCRC), Salman Khan and Aamir Khan maintained a deafening silence Hollywood star John Cusack has come out in support of the Jamia Students.
Cusack tweeted in solidarity with the protests and the protestors against CAA. Cusack tweeted a quote by Arudhati Roy and posted the message: “Stand with our Muslim brothers and sisters and students in solidarity being brutalized by Modi”
Cusack is known for his role in blockbuster apocalyptic movie 2012.
The 2012 actor also posted videos of the violence against students by the Delhi Police, and wrote, “Solidarity.” He has also shared photographs of California citizens protesting against the amended Citizenship Act.
Bollywood has largely been silent on the issue even though celebrities like Anurag Kashyap and Rajkummar Rao have ewxpressed solidarity with the students.

Tensions flared across the country after police personnel resorted to lathi-charge and firing of tear gas shells to deal with the violence during protests during which several students and police officials sustained injuries.
