India creates two Israels annually, Common Civil Code needs to be implemented: BJP Minister Giriraj Singh

The ongoing fast unto death at Ramlila Maidan in Lajpat Nagar concluded on its 22nd day, highlighting the ‘need for a Population Control Act in India’.

The fast, led by Anil Choudhary, President of Population Solution Foundation, saw the participation of Union Minister Giriraj Singh, District Magistrate Rakesh Singh, Meerut MP Rajendra Aggarwal, and Trans Hindon Area DCP Shubham Patel.

Addressing the alarming rate of population growth, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that India is adding a population equivalent to two Israels every year.

“Today the population is increasing by two crores every year. We are producing the population of two Israels every year,”

He said that the country’s resources are limited, and urgent measures are required to curb the population explosion. Singh highlighted the need for a Population Control Act, linking it to the broader implementation of a Common Civil Code.

“Implementing a Common Civil Code and a Population Control Act is not just a promise; it’s a commitment to the well-being of our nation. Let’s unite for a sustainable future,” he said.

Anil Choudhary, who lost 20 kg during the 22-day fast, ended the protest after Union Minister Giriraj Singh provided him with juice. Singh announced that a law will be enacted that applies uniformly to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians, urging stringent consequences for those who do not comply.

“In the pursuit of a Population Control Act, we aim for a law that transcends religious boundaries, applying uniformly to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians. It’s about fostering equality and sustainable growth,” Singh said.

“The urgency for a Population Control Act is not a matter of politics; it’s a matter of our nation’s survival. We must rise above party lines to secure our future,” he said.

Singh argued that the need for population control should have been addressed at the time of independence in 1947.

Anil Chaudhary said that a petition with 1 crore 20 lakh signatures demanding a population control law was sent to Delhi but was stopped at the UP border.

“A Common Civil Code is the foundation for a harmonious society, and coupled with a Population Control Act, it becomes a powerful tool for national well-being,” said Chaudhary.
