Abu Dhabi: Recently, a video went viral on TV channels and social media in after being shared by the Zee News and Times now in which an Emirati man is saying “Jai Siya Ram” in Abu Dhabi.
The video was shared on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Dubai.
Hence, the video belongs to a programme conducted by spiritual leader Morari Bapu in September 2016. While Times Now and Zee News acknowledged the video was old, they claimed that the man in the video, who is actually a UAE-based journalist, was the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Dubai-based newspaper Gulf News cracked down on Indian Media for disseminating the false news. The newspaper’s website published a report and accused Indian media for spreading the “false propaganda” to “gain political mileage in India.
The report claimed that Indian media groups were incapable of “responsible journalism” for not being able to correctly identify the Crown Prince as the Crown Prince was Chief Guest for India’s Republic Day parade in 2017.While the UAE Embassy in India did not issue a statement, its official handle on Twitter shared the Gulf News report.
Later, the Zee News has deleted the story; while the Times Now updated the story to reflect the real speaker, but has not issued a statement of correction. The video went extensively viral on social media, and the several notable people also shared the video on Twitter.
However, it resulted in a massive embarrassment for the Indian media houses.
