Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has terminated the services of Dr Kafeel Khan, a paediatrician with the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.

“Never expected Justice from this Government as I knew I have not done anything wrong and have firm faith in our judiciary,” he said in a tweet.

He added that he was terminated despite getting a clean chit from a court and nine inquiries.

Kafeel Khan had been suspended along with seven others in August 2017 when over 60 children died due to disruption in the oxygen supply at the BRD hospital. Seven doctors, except Khan, were later reinstated. He is the only one to be terminated by the Yogi government.

He was continuously hounded by the state government. He was jailed in 2020 for his speech against CAA in Aligarh Muslim University. But was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court as it found that his speech did not promote hatred rather it gave a call for ”national integrity and unity among citizens”.

Talking to IANS on Thursday, Kafeel Khan said that he was waiting for the formal termination order to be served to him.

“I will continue to fight for justice and will challenge the order in court,” he said.
