Autorickshaw driver tied up and thrashed,  for refusing to chant Jai Shri Ram

Kanpur : In continued attacks on minorities across India, a Muslim auto-rickshaw driver in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh was reportedly beaten up by three men on Wednesday, July 3 for refusing to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

The fateful incident took place in Babu Purwa area of Kanpur.

The police reached the spot after people in the area protested against the attack.

Atib was later admitted to a hospital. His condition has been reported as serious.

Locals are demanding that the three accused be arrested immediately.As per the local three men allegedly tied up Atib, the victim, inside a Sulabh toilet and assaulted him with bricks and stones. The three have been identified as Sumit, Rajesh and Shiva.

The  police as usual is in denial mode. Superintendent of Police (South) Raveena Tyagi claimed the incident was a mere drunken brawl and denied that Atib was asked to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
