Lucknow, March 24: Civil rights activists took out a protest demonstration here today against the Special Cell of Delhi Police over the arrest of Syed Liaqat Shah in a fake terror conspiracy case this past Thursday. The activists of Rihai Manch burnt the effigy of Delhi Police in front of Vidhan Sabha building here.

Alleged former militant Shah was returning to India from PoK to join his family in J&K and avail the state government’s scheme for surrendered militants. The Delhi Police arrested him in Gorakhpur and claimed he was planning to execute suicide bombings in Delhi before Holi. Within 24 hours of the Delhi Police claim, both J&K government and Police said Shah was returning to the state to surrender, his credentials were verified and his family had in February itself submitted required papers before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in his native Kupwara district in J&K.

Rihai Manch (Forum for the Release of Innocent Muslims imprisoned in the name of Terrorism) condemned the Delhi Police for attempting to disturb communal atmosphere before the Holi by executing a fake terror case operation.
