Mumbai: First vaccination camp in Agripada, South Mumbai, helped 600 people to brace a shield against the deadly Covid19 Virus on Sunday in YMCA International Hotel, Mumbai Central. MCAALM organized one day camp with the medical support of Nanavati hospital, their doctors’ team and the Covishield, the much desired vaccines.
It creates awareness and eliminates hesitations among the people when local social workers and respected people organize Vaccination camps in the society, area, said Mehboob Patel, General Secretary of MCAALM- Mumbai Central Agripada Advance Locality Management. Many people were afraid of getting vaccination because of misinformation spread through social media.
As per the Norms we have provided two ambulances, one with ICU. For the social distancing we had 4 Booths for vaccinations and divided the whole day in 4 time slots of two hours each, said Mehboob Patel. 15 MCAALM Committee members and volunteers with 15 Doctors & technical team provided their services in the camp. “We have helped the people getting registered on CoWin App and also arranged the refreshments that include, Tea, Cold Drinks, Biscuits for the locals free of cost” he added.
We were quite hesitant to get the vaccination but with the involvement of the locals and trusted people we have shunned our fear and got vaccinated, said Ansari Zaki. We have to take all the available precautions against this deadly pandemic. Among them, the vaccination is the first and the most important tool for the safety of our health said Mukarrab Ali Rehmani.
Sultana Rahim a teacher of Anjuman Khairul Islam, also got vaccinated, said, “We have registered ourselves on CoWin app but could not get the slots for the shots since 2 months. Thanks to the General Secretary of Anjuman Khairul Islam Mr. Hani A Farid who has personally sponsored the vaccines for the teaching and Non- teaching staff of our institutions and Trustee Mehboob Patel for arranging this camp which helped both, I and my husband get vaccinated.”
We could not even register ourselves on the CoWin App; said Rafat Ansari “Thankfully, the volunteers have registered me and my mother and provided separate booth for women with the lady doctor.” We recommend having these types of camp which released the burdened on individuals who are not well versed with the modern technologies.”
Arif Nasim Khan, Working President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Adv.Yusuf Abrahani, President Islam Gymkhana, Raees Shaikh, MLA Samajwadi Party and Vijay Lipare Organiser of Byculla Assembly, Shiv Sena visited the camp and appreciated the voluntary services provided by MCAALM.
