Hate crimes against Muslims in India have exploded since the BJP led government came to power in 2014. Around 85% of perpetrators are alleged to have been associated either with the BJP or its sister Hindu organizations. In some cases, law enforcement agencies have been either indifferent or hostile to the victims.
The purpose of this page is to track and document all hate crimes carried out against India’s 200 million Muslims, with the objective of catching all data regarding date, location, motive, victim, perpetrator and subsequent legal action, which will then be later populated into a searchable and analytical database, and then made available as a resource tool for journalists, academics and human rights activists.
Gregory Stanton, who founded the Genocide Watch group, has warned of a possible genocide against Muslims in India.

Details: A woman named Shabana accompanied with a boy were beaten by a group of 10-12 people who were a part of Ram Navami rally and shouted slogans like “Mulle Kaate Jayenge” which means “Muslims will be sawed/cut.” The group was also reported to have passed lewd comments on the woman. A man named Ashraf who passed by was also attacked by the same armed group with handgun butt on his head. Ashraf identified a few people from the mob who are claimed to be associated with the Bajrang Dal.

Details: Five cow vigilantes lead by main accused Puneeth Kerehali allegedly chased and beat a Muslim cattle trader Idrees Pasha resulting in his death. They asked Pasha to “Go Back to Pakistan.” The family of Pasha alleged that the cow vigilantes demanded Rs 2 lakh from Pasha in order to let him go. They also dismissed the allegations of smuggling and presented receipts of cattle purchase before The Quint.

When the people replied in a low voice, Prachi asked if there were “Katuas” and “Topi walas” (Muslims) in the audience. Sadhvi said that there is no force in the universe which can stop India from becoming a Hindu Rashtra.

The event Hindu Jagruti Samelan was organized by Nyay Manch Trust. Narsinghanand alleged that there is a Shiv temple (Makkeshwar Mahadev) beneath Kaaba and ZamZam is the holy water of river Ganga. Yati added that Mecca is the root of cancer pointing towards Islam.

Details: Members of the Hindutva extremist organization Bajrang Dal along with other community members in Haldwani, Uttarakhand stopped Taraveeh (special Ramadan prayers offered at night) in a building owned by lawyer Zafar Siddiqui. They slapped the Imam and assaulted another worshipper. The mob tried to attack Zafar but stopped when they came to know about his profession. The police were present at the time of assault whom locals accuse of inaction. The right-wing media outlets like Hindu Existence supported and justified the assault as “tit for tat.” They labelled the assault as a reaction to the denial of permission to Ram Navami processions in certain areas. (It is important to note that Ram Navami processions were taken out despite denial of permission in certain areas like Jahangirpuri.)

Details: Mohit Raj Maharaj, a famous monk At Vishwa Sanatan Mahasangh Hindu Sameela said that Islam is a cult and a radical ideology of Muhammad, Ali, Ayesha, and Abubakar. When we (Hindus) do not kill an ant, they (Muslims) kill goats at the birth of children. He added that India will become a Hindu Rashtra and those who don’t like it (Muslims) can migrate to 56 countries (referring to 56 Islamic countries). He uttered the names of Muslims rulers of India and said that their children (indirectly referring to Muslims) could not be able to sleep if Hindus unite.

Details: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on 7th of April said that he will not tolerate land jihad or forced conversion of land ownership in Uttarakhand. In a public gathering, the Chief Minister said that his government will not tolerate illegally constructed “tombs” and “mazaars” and over 1000 such sites have been identified for demolition in the state. Land Jihad is another conspiracy theory like Love Jihad wherein Muslims are accused of land grabbing and considering it a religious struggle. He alleged the demographic imbalance and forced conversions as well.

Details: Half a dozen small shops and vehicles belonging to Muslims were set on fire and stones were pelted on the Muslim colonies by mobs chanting Jai Shri Ram. It was alleged that someone had wrapped beef in a saffron flag and desecrated it. However, the police investigation rubbished the claim and revealed that the meat was chicken. A senior BJP leader was arrested in connection with the communal clash.

In addition to it, Raja Singh alleged the religious conversion of Hindu women and families and asked people to beat those accused of converting them. He said that no secular force or police can stop Indian from becoming a Hindu Rashtra.

Details: An 11-year-old boy (minor) was abused and thrashed by a group of minor boys from the other community in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The boy was stripped naked and forced to chant religious slogans Jai Shri Ram and Jai Mahakal and anti-Pakistan slogans as well. As per victim, he was approached by the boys (known to him) who told him that toys were being distributed nearby. Later, they took him beside a pond and thrashed him. Video of the incident was shot on camera and posted online by the assaulters.
