New Delhi: 60 out of Hindu saints who attended Kumbh Mela in Haridwar have tested positive for Covid-19 in  Gyaraspur, a small town in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district. 22 out of them are missing from the area.

All had gone between April 11 to April 15 and returned on April 25. They were subjected to COVID testing when 60 out of 83 Sadhus reported positive. Tracing for others is being done.

Previously, over 100 sadhu and saints were tested positive in bhopal after returning from Haridwar. They were admitted in various hospitals.

The pilgrims, according to health officials, returned to Gyaraspur on April 25. “All those who had gone for the Kumbh are being traced and tested. We found 83 had gone but so far we have only been able to trace 60 of them. 22 have so far not been traced, and we are trying to do everything possible to trace them,” block medical officer Gyaraspur JD Abbas said.

The 60 who have tested positive have been asked to stay in home isolation with a directive to report complications if any, immediately.
