On their way to the mosque in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, a Muslim cleric and another person were stabbed and injured by three minor boys, all of whom have been detained, a police official said on Monday.

Mohammad Talha, a man in his mid-20s, and ‘alim’ (scholar) Sheikh Uzefa were both hospitalised in nearby Indore as a result of the incident, which happened late Sunday night.

“Three minors were detained during the day for the incident. Uzefa is in stable condition while Talha is out of danger. Both were injured near the chest,” Khandwa Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh told PTI over the phone.

Following the incident, a number of Muslims demonstrated outside the Padam police station, calling for the immediate arrest of those responsible. Independent corporator Ashafaque Sighad led the protest.

According to SP Singh, there are police present in the area, which is still calm.

Last month, a mob of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) men assaulted a college student for conversing with a Hindu classmate.

  1. Minor boys? I still doubt how fast police came to conclusion that attackers are minors! We know “words” make lot of sense, attacked by minor boys vs attacked by rightwing goons. No wonder the attackers are minors since this is how RSS make people mind poisonous trained them from their child age.
