Islamic organisation Raza Academy on Thursday organised a protest outside Minara Masjid in Mumbai in connection with Saudi government’s nod to open cinema halls in Medina city. The protestors expressed their anger against the Suadi government and said they cannot tolerate cinema halls in Medina as it is the second most sacred place in Islam.

The protest was attended by Raza Academy chief Saeed Noori and Islamic cleric Syed Moin Mian. Slogans like Death to Saudi government, Shame on Saudi Jews [referring to Saudi royal family] were raised at the event.

Noori slammed the Saudi government in connection with its modernisation mission. He said, ”The Saudi government wants to impose unislamic laws in the holy city of Medina in the name of modernisation.”

Raza Academy is a Mumbai-based organisation. Recently, it has been emphasising on the formation of a law against people making ”insulting” Prophet Muhammad and other religious leaders. It has conducted various conferences and also have had meetings with ministers in connection with the same. Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi party has extended its support to Raza Academy’s demand for the aforementioned law.
