The BJP is up in arms against a police officer after he compared the RSS with the Popular Front of India (PFI). Several leaders of the party have asked him to withdraw his words and extend an apology over the same.
The Patna Police on Thursday alleged detection of a “potential terror module” with links to the PFI. They said they have arrested two men in connection with the same.
Addressing a press conference, Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna said, “the modus operandi of PFI was similar to that of RSS shakhas. They train the youth under the guise of physical education and spread their agenda. We got documents of camps teaching martial arts and training members to use sticks and swords under the guise of physical training.”

“Their general vision document said that if people of the Muslim community are tortured and suppressed, they will work to protect them,” the SSP added.
After his statement, BJP MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi, in a tweet, called on him to withdraw his statement and apologise for it.
BJP MLA Harisbhushan Thakur, who had earlier compared Muslims with Ravan and called for burning them, said, “”It shows the SSP has lost his mental balance… how can you compare a nationalist organisation like RSS with PFI?” It may be noted the RSS is a Hindu nationalist organisation and has been actively involved in various riots and massacres against Muslims.
Reacting to the Patna Police’s claims, the PFI said that their allegations are “ridiculous” and “devoid of any substance”. “The Police have tried to create an imaginary story of “Terror Plot” by implanting fake documents,” the PFI said in a press release.
The organisation further denied to have published the document presented by the Patna Police. “Popular Front has not ever published or distributed anything like that,” it added.
The PFI claimed that the document first came to the fore when the Uttar Pradesh Police included it in a charge-sheet. “There seems to be a common trend in different states to target Popular Front through a set of uniform modus operandi which indicates that it is part of a political decision coming from a single table,” it added.
