“Post Selfies with Jhanda, Mitti, and Diya Ahead of August 15”: J&K admin tells government officers

by Muslim Mirror Staff

As part of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2023, Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued a unique directive for all government officers asking them to use selfies featuring images of the Indian flag, soil, and earthen lamps as their Display Pictures (DPs) on social media platforms.

The decision was taken during a meeting convened by Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, who chaired the review session to ensure meticulous arrangements for the significant national event.

The official notice issued by the Jammu and Kashmir administration underscores the importance of displaying the tricolour, soil, and earthen lamps on social media profiles as a symbolic representation of the nation’s rich heritage and cultural diversity. It also urges the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Heads of the Departments (HODs) to ensure strict compliance with this order.

“All government officers and public at large will hoist tricolour over their houses. However, it should be ensured that the flag is hoisted in an appropriate and befitting manner having due regard to the flag code,” reads the official document.

While participation in the Independence Day celebrations is mandatory for government employees, exceptions will be considered only under genuinely exceptional circumstances.

All government buildings, offices, schools, colleges, universities, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), panchayats, blocks, tehsils, and patwar khanas will be adorned with decorative lights, and the national flag will be hoisted on each of these edifices. The government is also encouraging everyone to capture videos of these celebrations and share them with their respective Divisional Commissioners, further propagating the spirit of unity and pride.

The grand Independence Day function will be held at two prominent venues – the Jammu Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar and Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu.

  1. They will gladly post ‘Pakistani’ Jhanda. Muslim loyalty is to Pakistan and not to India. India’s experiment with Secularism has miserably failed. A Muslim can never be a Secularist.

It was a mistake to keep Muslims in India after 1947 parition. Muslim attitude is same whether it is in Europe, China, Australia, Myanmar or India. No loyalty whatsoever but consume lot of welfare (Ration Card, Freebies etc) and Internal Security (Policing) budget.
