New Delhi: Professor Rizwan Qaiser, noted historian and former head of Jamia Millia Islamia’s history department, succumbed to Covid-19 on Saturday.
Prof Qaiser has been serving as a teacher at Jamia’s history department since 1989. He has written several many books. He important works are related to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and Indian National Congress.
An alumnus of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Qaiser He has served as the Honorary Director, Centre for the Study of Comparative Religions and Civilizations and Head, Departmen of History and Culture in Jamia Millia Islamia.
The funeral prayer of Rizwan Qaiser will take place in Batla House Mosque on Sunday.
Condolence messages are pouring in over his demises from various sections.

Prominent writer and JNU professor Amitabh Matto quoted Dylan to express his grief over Prof. Qiaser’s death.

What a sad day for all of us… this endless roll call of death.. I knew Rizwan as a colleague when i was in JMI for three years, had occasion to share a cup of tea, a joke and now he has left this void.

Oh god, i do not believe it. he was my guide and mentor in Jamia during my Phd. Had long association since then. A true Indian and Scholar. pray to god for his family so that they can withstand the shock demise.
