NEW DELHI : Anjumane Taraqqi-e-Urdu, a New Delhi-based association for the promotion and preservation of the Urdu Language, has opened its newly renovated “Syedna Saifuddin Auditorium,” at Urdu Ghar. The program was attended by distinguished Urdu personalities including, the President of the Association, Sadiq-ur-Rehman Qadri, the representative of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin in Delhi, Hatim Badri, and the General Secretary of the Association, Athar Farooqi.
Named after its patron, the leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the state-of-the-art auditorium is equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure to cater to the needs of writers, poets, authors, and Urdu language enthusiasts. The auditorium will serve as a centre for the exchange of ideas related to the Urdu language.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Association, Professor Sadiq-ur-Rehman Qadri, expressed his delight at the opening of the auditorium, stating that the association will now provide a perfect place and ambience for Urdu writers to thrive. He added, “The association initiated the digitization of its library 12 years ago, and a significant portion of its books are available on its website. The digitization of its library and ancient manuscripts reflects its dedication to preserving and sharing knowledge.”
Hatim Badri, Syedna’s representative in New Delhi, conveyed his best wishes to members of the Anjumane Taraqqi-e-Urdu association. He said, “I want to highlight the longstanding relationship and bond between Syedna’s family and the association, dating back to the time when the 51st leader Syedna Taher Saifuddin was the Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University and Dr Zakir Hussain was the Vice-Chancellor and President of the association.”
The association faced many challenges in its early days, but with the support of Syedna Taher Saifuddin, they were able to construct the building during Dr. Zakir Hussain’s tenure. He added, “Following his grandfather’s footsteps in promoting well-rounded education and providing necessary infrastructure, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin graciously accepted the request to fund the construction and renovation of the auditorium.”
Dr Athar Farooqi, the General Secretary of the Urdu Development Society (India), expressed deep gratitude to Syedna Saifuddin for his generous contribution and proudly stated, “If you want to see a state-of-the-art auditorium in Delhi, visit Urdu Ghar.”
