New Delhi: A group of children presented the ‘Communal Harmony Flag’ to the Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari to observe the Communal Harmony Campaign and Fund Raising Week here today. They were accompanied by officials of the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), an autonomous body with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Vice President called for maintaining communal harmony and national integration and showed keen interest in the activities of the foundation. He wished them good success for their self-less service to the society.
Communal Harmony Campaign Week is observed from the 19th to 25th November every year to coincide with the Quami Ekta Week. The highlights of the observance of the Flag Day is the symbolic pinning of Flags by a group of assisted children from various states on the person of important dignitaries. The Foundation was set up with the main objective of providing assistance for the physical and psychological rehabilitation of the child victims of communal, caste, ethnic or terrorist etc. violence, with special reference to their care, education and training besides promoting communal harmony, fraternity and national integration.
