Markandey Katju, a former Supreme Court of India judge, claimed on Sunday that India was a nation of immigrants and that the vast majority of its citizens were descended from immigrants.

While speaking at the Centenary Celebrations of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Bhatkal, Katju said that over 90% of the population is descended from immigrants.

“India was a country that everybody yearned to visit. As a result, a diverse population from all nations, religions, and cultures continued to immigrate to India. That explains why our population is so diverse and lively, with so many languages and cultures,” said Katju.

Even Dravidians and Aryans, according to Katju, were immigrants to India and not natives.

Akbar, the Mughal Emperor, was cited by Katju as the country’s founding father and the original architect of modern India.

Then Katju claimed that false information was being spread about Tiger of Mysore Tippu Sultan in an effort to damage his reputation as a just and successful ruler.

“To damage Tippu Sultan’s reputation, people are now claiming he was a tyrant and bigot despite the fact that he issued grants to 156 Hindu temples in his realm. It’s important to thwart these attempts to damage his reputation,” he said.

  1. If one goes far enough back in History ALL humans descended from origins in Africa. How does that fit into Katju’s narrative of appeasement?

    • All humans came from Ethiopia and Caucasias mountains migration took place from thousands of year that doesn’t mean native indian aren’t indians

    • If a SC Judge is called ignorant just because he talked about non-hindus, then we are surely living in a bigoted society !
