Bhopal, January 16: Four Memorandum of Understandings, (MoUs), were signed between Madhya Pradesh and Singapore for mutual collaboration in 4 sectors on Thursday during the visit of central Indian state Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Singapore four-day visit.
During the visit, Chouhan was conferred prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship and the Chief Minister succeeded in motivating foreign investors to invest in the state. He is the fourth Indian to be conferred this prestigious fellowship. Previous Indian recipients include former Vice Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, former Union Minister for Disinvestment Arun Shourie and Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh Dr. Chandrababu Naidu.
According to an official spokesman on the third day of his Singapore visit, Chief Minister Chouhan attended a business seminar. During it, 4 MoUs were signed for mutual collaboration in 4 sectors including urban planning, skill development, clean energy and food processing. An MoU was signed between Madhya Pradesh’s Directorate of Town and Country Planning and Singapore Corporation Enterprises. Madhya Pradesh’s Technical Education and Skill Development Department singed MoU with Singapore’s ITE Education Services. Madhya Pradesh’s Renewal Energy Department signed MoU with Singapore’s SembCorp Green Infrastructure Limited for establishment of 1000 MW wind energy plant in western part of Madhya Pradesh. Besides, an MoU was signed between LT Foods India Limited and DSM Nutrition Products, Singapore. Under this MoU, works pertaining to urban planning, capacity building, skill development and food processing will be undertaken. Besides, various alternatives and proposals will be studied and discussed and works of proposed undertakings will be undertaken.
Industries Minister Mrs. Yashodhara Raje Scindia and other members of Madhya Pradesh’s delegation were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, addressing a business seminar at Singapore Chief Minister Chouhan reportedly said that ancient and great country India is transforming rapidly. Economic growth rate is increasing and policy paralysis has ended. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented novel programmes like Make in India, Skill India, Digital India, Clean India and Start-up India. Now, India is marching ahead with renewed enthusiasm and vigour. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was addressing a business seminar at Singapore today.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is pioneer state in the country in development. State’s growth rate has been in double digits for consecutive last 7 years. State’s agriculture growth rate has been over 20 percent, which is highest in the world. Central government has conferred Krishi Karman Award to the state for consecutive 4 years.
Chouhan sad development in Madhya Pradesh is being ensured by following a roadmap. Earlier, attention was paid to infrastructure development. Roads measuring one lakh 60 thousand kms were constructed in the state. Round-the-clock power supply has been ensured. Now, Madhya Pradesh has become a power-surplus state. A decade ago, only 2900 MW power was available, which has increased to 16800 MW now. Remarkable work has also been done in renewable energy sector. Asia’s largest solar power plant of 130 MW is situated at Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh and world’s largest 750 MW solar power plant is also being established in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. State’s irrigation capacity has increased from 7.50 lakh hectares to 36 lakh hectares, which would be increased to 60 lakh hectares in next 5 years, he added. (pervezbari@yahoo.co.in)
