VELLORE, OCTOBER 16: Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), one of the premier institutions of higher and technical education in North East India, has been awarded the Best Student Chapter Award of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) in Assam and Eastern States Section on the basis of the overall activities carried out during the year 2016. The award comprising of medallion, citation and certificate was presented by Ramakant K Jha, Technical Adviser, Smart City Project and former Managing Director & Group CEO, GIFT City (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City Co Ltd), in presence of Prof Pratapsinh K Desai, President ISTE, New Delhi and a host of other dignitaries from engineering fraternity at the 19th ISTE National Students’ Convention held at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore on Sunday.
It is worth mentioning that the students of RIST have shown brilliant performances in various events at the recently held 8th Section Level ISTE Convention for Assam and North Eastern States at its Technocity Campus on the basis of which the Institute was identified for the award by the executive committee of Indian Society for Technical Education, New Delhi. RIST, a unit of ERD Foundation, Guwahati, located along Assam-Meghalaya border near Khanapara has emerged today as a premier engineering and technical institute in the region not only because of its quality infrastructures and faculty members which are at par with the top institutes in the country but also because of the fact that the students are given ample opportunities and facilities to exercise their talents by organising innumerable co-curricular activities, seminars, conferences, workshops at regional, national and international levels, which are mostly unique in nature, so that the students of the Institute can compare themselves with the rest of the world and can equip themselves to face the challenges of the day.
Expressing his feelings, Mahbubul Hoque, Chairman, ERD Foundation (ERDF) said, “Our hard work over the years has started bearing fruit. I am extremely happy that RIST has bagged the Best ISTE Award today and I dedicate this honour to the teachers and students of the Institute who have risen to the expectations of the management of the Institute and the people of the region.”
