Guwahati, Nov 7 : The Glorious Public School located at Karim Chowk in Konwar Nagar Mangaldai in Assam celebrated its third anniversary on Sunday, 6 Nov 2016 with a humanitarian touch.
The School announced to provide all meals on an ongoing basis to the inmates of an orphanage, Kasturi Anath Sishu Griha, situated nearby. The announcement was made by HR Hazarika, former Principal of Mangaldai HS School and President, Managing Committee of Glorious Public School.
On this occasion, the School authorities felicitated four outstanding achievers of the State viz. Nahid Afreen, Indian Idol junior finalist & first runners up; Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury, pathologist, Nemcare Hospital Guwahati; Gurujyoti Das, MLA Mangaldai; and Rajeev Kr Deka, Managing Director, SRD Repose, Horlicks & Britannia factories at Mangaldai.
Two other persons, in spite of being differently abled, who had established themselves as role models in their respective fields were also honored. One of them is Jesmin Ahmed (28), physically challenged and bedridden, wrote the book “Moi Jasmine a Koisu (This is Jasmine Speaking)” that has been lauded by both critics and book lovers. The other person who was felicitated is Ikramul Hussain, also wheel chair bound, who has established himself as an activist in the field of creating awareness about the rights of the differently abled persons of Assam.
The children of the orphanage and students of the school presented a cultural programme. Mizanoor Rahman, Secretary, GPS, thanked the dignitaries and invitees who graced the occasion.
