New Delhi : Moments after UP CM Yogi visit to Gorakhpur’s Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College one man who tried to save as many lives as possible has been removed from all hospital duties.
Dr Kafeel Ahmed Khan has been removed as the Nodal Officer for BRD Medical College’s Department of Pediatrics, and replaced by Dr Bhupendra Sharma, ANI reported.
There were reports that Dr Khan, who headed the encephalitis ward and is a paediatrician, managed to save many lives and the parents in the hospital. Some of the parents said that if Dr Khan had not put in his effort to borrow oxygen, the number of deaths in the past 48 hours would have been more than 36.
On the intervening night of August 11, when Dr Khan came to know that oxygen cylinders at the hospital were about to dry, he swung into action. Dr Khan borrowed three oxygen cylinders from other nursing homes and even withdrew Rs 10,000 from his personal account to purchase 17 oxygen cylinders in order to save as many infants as possible.
Dr Khan was hailed as a hero after he was seen carrying oxygen cylinders in his personal car. Various newspapers reported that Khan, after learning that the hospital is left with only two-hours of oxygen, started making calls to arrange oxygen and even borrowed cylinders from a private hospital run by his friend. Khan even made a payment of Rs 10000 to a local oxygen supplier.
Andher Nagari…….
The officials are angry that a single devoted Indian Dr with love for mankind could single-handedly save at least 15 to 20 lives.
Whereas corrupt officials with lakhs rupees as kickbacks and repeated reminders could not save any of the 60 innocent human lives. Demonetization has not made any difference to rampant corruption. Sabhi Ameeron ka vikaas.
