- On the 135th birth anniversary of India first education minister, Jamia Hamdard V-C highlighted his vision for India.
Education advocates and academics used the opportunity of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary to call for renewed efforts to instill the spirit of communal amity to build India a Vishvguru (Superpower) in true sense. To achieve the objective, all the participants at an event in Delhi’s Jamia Hamdard unequivocally appealed to the people to spread the teaching of the great freedom fighter and independent India’s first education minister at a programme held at Delhi’s Jamia Hamdard.
On this auspicious occasion, which is being celebrated as the National Education Day, Dr. Junaid Haris, senior faculty of Jamia Millia Islamia, said that Maulana Azad put a lot of importance on education for young Indians. He said that Maulana Azad’s education policy was to create future generations of Vishwaguru in all walks of life and highlighted the vision and approach of the great stalwart. It was Azad’s 135th birth anniversary which was organised by Dean Student Welfare (DSW), Jamia Hamdard. The lecture, titled ‘Role of Maulana Azad in Nation Building’, largely focused his approach towards making India self reliant.
The programme commenced with the welcome of the Chief Guest Mr. Rizwanur Rahman, Executive Director, Power Finance Corporation, New Delhi.
Rizwanur Rehman, the Executive Director of Power Finance Corporation, talked about Maulana Azad’s contribution by saying that he believed in composite culture and wanted to find a balance between modernity and tradition. He praised Maulana Azad’s plan to build institutions and set up cultural and literary academies that have a strong sense of ethics.
In his presidential address, Prof. M. Afshar Alam, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, said that he focused on the inspiration and contribution of Maulana Azad. Prof. Afshar Alam affirmed India’s global heraldry in cultural values and richness. He thanked Maulana Azad for being an inspiration and support system for Jamia Hamdard, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Aligarh Muslim University. These educational institutes had garnered sharp minds over the decades and nurtured minority communities, he added.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion are Deans, Head of Departments, faculties, officers, Mr. Shaukat H Mufti, Mr. Mutiur Rahman and students of Jamia Hamdard.
