Hyderabad, August 18: Majlis-e Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi addressed a public meeting after a gap of nearly eight months here on Saturday. Speaking at a well-attended program organized on the occasion of the fifth death anniversary of Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi said that Muslims across the world are passing through tough times and staying united is the need of the hour. He told thousands of people who gathered at Khilwat grounds on Saturday night that the MIM would expand its base to Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, Gujarat and other parts of the country. He said extensive tours would be made to different parts of the country to form a strong political platform of Muslims and other backward communities. He appealed to the public to strive hard and work for the development of the community and the party.
The MIM leader cautioned the Muslims of Hyderabad against the conspiracies of divisive forces. Akbaruddin Owaisi, who is leader of his party in the state assembly, made it clear that the MIM is not against any religion. However, it is opposed to Sangh Parivar, Bajrang Dal, Vishva Hindu Parishad and other communal outfits. The legislator recalled the services and sacrifices made by Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi popularly known as ‘Salar’ for the development and welfare of the community. He said that the Majlis is working hard for the development of the community across the country and the result would be seen very soon. Akbar Owaisi said that he has total faith in judiciary and would come out clean in all cases registered against him in Adilabad , Nizambad and other places for allegedly making hate speech.
MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi also addressed the meeting. He said that the city of Hyderabad belongs to everyone and they should live here peacefully, without any fear. “If you consumed Gandipet water, then you are a Hyderabadi, even if you have eaten Haleem then you are a Hyderabadi”, Asaduddin Owaisi said. Stating that the MIM opposed to giving union territory status to Hyderabad, the MIM chief said that his party was also against making Hyderabad the permanent capital of two sates of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Describing union minister as amateur in politics, he slammed him for making the suggestion to centre. MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the Congress government for imposing a ban on his visit to Maharashtra, and said he would now send his younger brother, Akbaruddin, to visit various states. The MIM chief asked the party cadre to gear up for the next poll and ensure that percentage of polling increase this time.
To hear the Owasi brothers, a large number of people had turned out in Khilwat ground of old city of Hyderabad. The area was completely packed and even people were standing on roof of buildings, trees and on police vehicles which were deployed for bandobust.
Akbar Owaisi started his speech in his typical style and he mentioned the problems of Muslim community from Hyderabad to Egypt. He opted all precautionary measures during his speech so that he could not violate law. At one time he suddenly stopped his speech and sat in his chair, but Asaduddin Owaisi insisted him to continue the speech. In his speech he didn’t make any comment on Narendra Modi’s controversial “Puppy” comment as Asaduddin Owasi had declared in his Jumatul Vida (last Friday of Ramadan) speech at Mecca Masjid. But Akbaruddin Owaisi vowed that MIM will conquer Gujarat and he warned his party leaders to stop collecting money from the people.
But Asaduddin Owaisi spoke offensively and warned all political parties against alliance with BJP. He criticized TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for his soft corner with BJP, and also gave a warning to Chiranjeevi, film star turned politician and union minster by saying that he must not play politics on Hyderabad. He said the film star is child in politics.
Owaisi senior came down heavily on Modi on his anti Muslim remarks and referring to Modi’s slogan “Yes, we can” he ended his speech by saying “No never” for Modi only MIM, MIM, MIM.
