In a continuing wave of violence in the region, the Israel-Hamas conflict has entered its third day, with both sides engaged in intense clashes that have already claimed over a thousand lives, including civilians, defense personnel, and foreign nationals. The conflict began when Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip launched a rocket barrage attack on Israel, prompting the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to retaliate with a counter-offensive operation named ‘Iron Swords.’ The situation has escalated rapidly, with Israel vowing to turn “all Hamas hiding places into rubble.”
Amid the ongoing turmoil, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice its concerns about the devastation wrought on Palestinian civilians in Gaza. The ministry expressed deep distress at the suffering endured by the population, and strongly criticized what it termed “international impunity” enjoyed by Israel, referring to it as a moral, political, and legal stain on humanity.
“The declaration of war by #Israel, the occupying Power, on a civilian population it has been illegally and forcibly occupying and oppressing for decades is a continuation of its record of criminality and impunity,” the ministry stated in a post. It highlighted Israeli officials who have made “genocidal and hateful calls for ethnic cleansing publicly and unashamedly.”

The ministry also pointed fingers at the international community, claiming that the current situation has arisen because the world has failed to act in defense of Palestinian rights. They called for an end to simplistic statements that disregard Palestinian lives and rights and encourage their violation. According to the ministry, Israel, as an occupying power, has no right or justification to target the defenseless civilian population in Gaza or elsewhere in Palestine.
Holding Israel accountable for the ongoing developments, Palestine emphasized that Israel has maintained a decades-long grip on the Palestinian people, stripping them of their rights and using illegal force, land confiscation, persecution, collective punishment, and reprisals. The ministry declared these actions as violations of the Palestinian right to self-determination and other international laws.
As the conflict rages on, Palestine called upon the international community to intervene and provide protection for the Palestinian people, particularly in light of what they described as an “open war” declared by Israel. The Palestinian foreign ministry urged the international community to halt what they termed Israel’s “barbarous campaign of death and destruction.”
In their statement on X, Palestine further urged the international community to fulfill their collective responsibilities, which include promoting accountability as the most viable remedy for the ongoing injustice. They affirmed that the Palestinian people would continue to defend themselves, their homes, and their fundamental right to live in freedom, free from occupation, apartheid, and persecution.

In a separate post, Palestine also condemned the bombardment of a school used as a UN refugee shelter for Palestinian civilians, highlighting that it housed children, women, the elderly, and sick individuals, and referring to the act as a “crime.”
