New Delhi, March 29: The Welfare Party of India expressed concern over likely loss of jobs or deportation of lakhs of expatriate Indians from Saudi Arabia. As deadline for the registration of companies and business establishments for nationalization process nitaqat being came to close on last Wednesday, around 2.5 lakh small or medium enterprises, not yet registered, are at the verge of being termed illegal and this may adversely affect lakhs of Indian employees working in these firms.
The fate of around 2 million Indians, the largest foreign work force in the Kingdom is at heavy risk.
Welfare Party of India General Secretary Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas has asked the central government to “take up the issue with topmost priority with the highest level authorities of Saudi government and take effective steps to ease the unease and fear of Indian immigrants.” He asked the government to be prepared to face any adverse situation and take all possible steps for remedial measures and rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi has also expressed concern over the issue.
“It’s a serious issue that will affect not only India but also other countries. Yesterday I spoke to the Indian ambassador in Saudi Arabia and has asked him to keep me informed on all the developments,” Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi told TV channels in Kerala.
